How admission works for colleges in Noida
Noida is in Uttar Pradesh, so state counselling applies to government-linked seats, while private universities run their own processes.
- Engineering (AKTU colleges): NIET, G.L. Bajaj, JSSATE and other AKTU-linked colleges fill most B.Tech seats on JEE Main rank through UPTAC counselling.
- Engineering (universities): JIIT runs its own counselling on JEE Main scores. Amity, Sharda, Galgotias, Bennett and Shiv Nadar accept JEE Main, their own tests or Class 12 marks.
- Medical and dental: MBBS and BDS seats at GIMS and Sharda are allotted on NEET-UG rank through UP state counselling (and the all-India quota where it applies).
- Management: Jaipuria, BIMTECH and Asian Business School shortlist through CAT, XAT, CMAT or GMAT, followed by interviews.
- Law: Symbiosis Law School Noida uses SLAT; most other law schools accept CLAT, LSAT India or their own tests.
- Arts, science, commerce: private universities admit on Class 12 merit or their own tests; some government courses use CUET or university merit lists.
Tip: Keep your UP domicile certificate ready if you have one. It matters in UPTAC and UP NEET counselling. Track exam and scholarship deadlines on our important dates page.
How to choose the right college in Noida
- Compare the right NIRF list: use the Engineering rank for B.Tech, Management for MBA and Law for LLB, not just the University rank.
- Check approvals: confirm UGC recognition for universities on ugc.gov.in, AICTE approval for engineering and PGDM, NMC for MBBS and BCI for law.
- Look at median packages: each institute's NIRF data file shows median salaries, which are more honest than "highest package" adverts.
- Count total cost: add hostel, transport and mess. Colleges near a Metro line in Noida can save hostel fees for students living in Delhi.
- Visit the campus: Greater Noida's Knowledge Parks are spread out, so check commute times before you decide.
Verify before you pay: Fees and seat rules change every year. The figures here are approximate (2025-26). Always confirm on the official website listed above, and be careful with agents who promise "direct admission".
