How many students win? An example
Scholarships go to the top 10 percentile, so you are ranked against everyone else, not against a fixed pass mark. Even if the paper is hard and you score lower, you can still win.
Everyone from the 100th down to the 90th percentile, the top 10 percentile, is eligible for a scholarship or rewards. If 3 lakh students apply, about 30,000 selected candidates (90–100 percentile) are eligible.
*This is a rough calculation. See the exact percentile calculation below.
Who gets the scholarship
- Take the AISEE examination, conducted in two modes: centre based in different parts of the country, or home based on your own device.
- The scholarship is given to students who appear and are selected through the AISEE process.
- Clear the examination and come in the top 10 percentile.
- Take admission in the current academic year in any AICTE / MCI / UGC approved college on merit. Paid, management or quota seats are not eligible.
How your percentile is calculated
A value out of 100: e.g. you scored 60% of the total marks.
Your rank compared with everyone else who took the exam, measured against the topper.
The 4 steps AISEE follows
- Count candidates (N). Everyone who appeared for AISEE, including morning, afternoon and evening sessions, centre based and home based.
- Assign ranks (r) by scaled score. Candidates with identical scores get the same rank: if two candidates share the top score, both are rank 1 and the next candidate is rank 3.
- Calculate the percentile (P):P = ((N − r) / N) × 100
- Round to two decimals. Scores of 99.995 and above become 100; scores from 99.985 up to (but not including) 99.995 become 99.99, and so on.
